How to stay productive in summer

The sun is shining, Instagram is filled with pictures of people's feet on the beach, your colleagues have swapped their coffee cups for Gin and Tonics...and you're in the office reading our blog but dreaming that your elbow is resting on the beach bar. Sorry, but thanks for coming!

Summer is known to be a season of low productivity: absences increase, emails with automatic responses are the trend, and it's easier to understand a kid from Generation Z than someone who answers their phone.

But that doesn't mean you should get discouraged. That's why we thought it was a great idea to create a summer productivity plan. Here are 6 ways to stay motivated and inspired, making your daily routine more efficient during the summer workday:

  • You need a plan.- It's hard to keep the flow up if you don't have your goals in focus. Lists are always welcome when it comes to personal productivity. Make a list of the tasks you have to do as soon as possible. Whenever possible, balance it out with those other things you love to do so you can keep your motivation safe.
  • Distribute your energy.- When you're working on the computer or near the phone, it's easy to spend too much time doing things that waste time and won't help you check off your to-do list. Replying to WhatsApp messages, getting stuck in a Twitter thread, complaining about something on LinkedIn...prioritize not getting distracted!
  • Be flexible.- According to Deloitte Global Millennial Survey 2019, 80% of respondents said that flexible work arrangements have a very positive impact on work-life balance and families. Maintaining this balance and allowing flexible work hours in the summer can increase productivity and job satisfaction: intensive workdays, remote work, shorter Fridays...
  • Tackle pending issues.- With most people on vacation, you have more time to tackle projects that were in the black hole of procrastination. Sorting folders, signing documents, installing updates...Take advantage of the summer to focus on projects that, while not urgent, are important or necessary.
  • Disconnect.- How can we recommend disconnecting in a productivity post? We like to surprise you more than clickbait! Disconnecting helps clear your mind, acquire new ideas, and think more clearly. Thus, when you return to work, you will be able to carry out tasks in a more thoughtful way and with much more energy and motivation! Avoid Burnout!
  • Have fun!- Develop those projects that you have in mind that you are so excited about and play music while you work. How about a Playlist well loaded with hits from the Summer? Your wish is granted, a little further down you will find it! These fun details will make the days go by faster and better, avoiding monotony. Go out to eat where you like! Even if you're not on vacation, show that you know how to have fun too!

Staying motivated and productive at work in the summer months when most of your coworkers are on vacation is harder than finding a needle in a haystack, but it is possible! Share these tricks and our playlist with your colleagues, and you will see how the summer days in the office will fly by.
