SBI Method
SBI (Situation - Behavior - Impact) is a feedback method that helps structure communication in a clear, objective, and fact-based way. Its goal is to avoid subjective interpretations and facilitate more useful, development-oriented conversations.
This model focuses on three key elements:
- Situation: describes the specific context in which the event occurs. For example, a meeting, a project, or a specific interaction.
- Behavior: explains exactly what the person did, focusing on observable facts and avoiding judgments or interpretations.
- Impact: outlines the consequences of that behavior, both on the team, the results, or other individuals.
Unlike more general approaches, the SBI method provides clarity and precision, making feedback easier to understand and accept. By focusing on specific situations, it reduces ambiguity and avoids personal labels such as "you are not collaborative", replacing them with objective and useful descriptions.
