Transformational Leadership
Type of leadership, in which the leaders of a group motivate their members to carry out actions that lead to the success of the group. In practice, it happens when the leader seeks to constantly improve the quality of human relations within their team.
Organizational psychologist Bernard Bass identified 4 key dimensions as an integrated system that reinforces the effectiveness of this type of leadership:
-
Idealized influence (Role modeling): In this dimension, the leader acts as an ethical role model for the team. Consistency between their speech and actions builds trust and credibility.
-
Inspirational motivation: The leader's purpose and goals show consistency, which reinforces engagement and result orientation.
-
Intellectual stimulation: Critical thinking, innovation, and constructive questioning are pursued, thereby helping to foster continuous learning and performance improvement.
-
Individualized consideration: Here, leadership focuses on individual development, tailoring support to the needs and potential of each team member.
