Ability
An ability is defined as the capacity or aptitude, innate or acquired through learning and experience, to execute a task, activity, or function effectively and with a determined level of competence.
In the context of Human Resources, abilities are a fundamental component of an employee's profile. They are commonly classified into:
- Hard skills: These are technical and specific capabilities that can be quantified and measured. For example, software proficiency, programming, data analysis, or language knowledge.
- Soft skills: These are personal and interpersonal attributes related to how a person interacts with others and performs in the workplace. They include effective communication, teamwork, problem-solving, leadership, adaptability, and emotional intelligence.
The identification, development, and management of abilities are crucial for organizational success, as they allow for aligning talent with the company's strategic objectives and ensuring the workforce's adaptability to market changes.
