Reverse mentoring

Reverse mentoring is a form of mentoring in which a person with less seniority or professional experience supports someone with greater experience to share knowledge, perspectives and competencies. Unlike traditional mentoring, where a more experienced person usually takes on the role of mentor, reverse mentoring allows learning to take place in both directions.

In Human Resources, this practice is particularly useful for connecting professionals from different generations, areas or hierarchical levels. Its aim is not simply to establish a relationship based on knowledge transfer, but to create a space for mutual learning where each person can contribute their experience and broaden their perspective.

Reverse mentoring can help reduce barriers between generations and foster an organisational culture that is more open to learning and knowledge sharing. It can also help challenge certain biases related to age, experience or hierarchy and promote greater understanding between professionals with different career paths.
