Manifestation of the set of characteristics, aptitudes and intellectual capacity that a person has, natural or acquired through learning, when carrying out an activity successfully.

Since the expression began to be used in 1997: the War for Talent, the word Talent and everything related to it has become an essential concept for Human Resources.

Talent can be defined from three aspects:
  • Natural: many authors and HR professionals believe that talent is innate. At Hrider we know that talent in various skills or competencies can be learned and developed through continuous evaluations, feedback, action plans and good management of the motivations of each employee. Still, we all have natural abilities and weaknesses.
  • High performance: Talent as high performance is what we usually associate with "the best in the class", the "out of the ordinary". It is the talent understood as the abilities and performance above average, especially in specific areas.
  • Potential: Potential talent is that which has not yet materialized in a consolidated way but there is the possibility of developing it. Through the Performance Evaluation it is very easy to proactively recognize these future capabilities to direct and drive professional growth. Each employee has their own strengths and, therefore, can create added value for the organization. That is why organizational success is achieved when we manage to discover each talent and give value to each person who is part of the team, not only to the people who stand out the most.
We also talk about it in our blog:
