Mid-Year Review
Mid-year reviews are performance evaluations carried out approximately halfway through the year to assess employees’ progress towards their goals, competencies, and professional development objectives.
Unlike traditional annual performance reviews, mid-year reviews provide an opportunity for an intermediate check-in to understand achievements, identify potential challenges, and adjust goals or priorities before the end of the year. These reviews usually involve conversations between managers and employees to discuss accomplishments, areas for improvement, training needs, and development opportunities. Beyond being a measurement tool, mid-year reviews help foster a continuous feedback culture and provide employees with guidance to improve their performance.
When supported by data from performance evaluations, goal tracking indicators, or People Analytics tools, organizations can gain a more comprehensive view of talent development and make more objective decisions regarding growth, recognition, and team management.
