Outplacement refers to helping recently laid off employees to make an easier transition to the labor market and to occupy a new position.

The goal of outplacement companies is to ease this transition process for candidates by providing services such as job interview training, career counseling, and helping candidates improve their resumes and job profiles on LinkedIn. These services combine psychological and emotional support with guidance and practical advice to improve employment prospects.

In many cases, the employer works with a specialised outplacement agency that locates jobs for people who have been laid off and helps them improve their job search and interview techniques. Others have internal specialists.
