OKR (Objectives & Key Results)

The OKR -objectives and key results- are a rigorous method of monitoring and setting objectives that helps an organization achieve goals by creating specific and measurable actions. It requires regular follow-ups, feedback, continuous learning and problem solving.

An Objective (O) is what you want to achieve. These objectives can be for a company, a department or a person. The Key Results (KR) monitor how that goal is reached. They are specific, have deadlines, and are measurable and verifiable (either met or not). OKRs help align people and encourage engagement around measurable goals.

The OKR concept was first developed by Andy Grove, president of Intel, in the 1970s. But it became popular when John Doerr, a colleague of Andy Grove's at Intel and later an early investor in Google, introduced the method to Google in the 1990s.
