The GROW model is a structured coaching method that helps identify a goal, address what stands in the way of achieving it, and exchange ideas while committing to taking action.

Known as one of the most pragmatic and straightforward coaching models, it is based on four pillars:
  1. Goal: At this stage, the person defines what they want to achieve. The objective should be clear, specific, and attainable.
  2. Reality: This involves objectively analyzing the current situation. The context, obstacles, and available resources are explored here.
  3. Options: Different alternatives for moving forward are identified. This phase encourages creativity and solution-finding.
  4. Will: This is the stage where commitment becomes concrete. The actions to be taken and the timeline are defined.
By following these four stages, the individual gains greater awareness of their current situation, defines goals, and identifies the actions needed to achieve them.

The GROW model was developed by Sir John Whitmore (1937–2017) in the 1980s and can be found in his book Coaching for Performance.
