Social Security

Social Security refers to the pension system. There are contributory benefits (retirement, widowhood, orphanhood, permanent disability, sick leave, maternity and paternity leave, or risk during pregnancy) and non-contributory benefits (some family benefits or non-contributory retirement pension).

Social Security is in charge of affiliating workers and collecting their contributions and those of employers. In addition, it recognizes and controls the right to contributory economic benefits and some non-contributory ones. It is also responsible for recognizing the right to health care.
