Techniques and procedures to minimize or avoid risks that can lead to an accident at work. Safety at work is about working conditions that are safe and promote the well-being of workers. In other words, mechanisms to protect workers against occupational hazards, illnesses, injuries, stress or harassment.

Article 16 of Law 31/1995 on Occupational Risk Prevention establishes the obligation to carry out an initial assessment of occupational risks for the health of workers. There are two types of techniques to eliminate, reduce and control risk:
  • Prevention techniques: techniques that act on the risks and causes.
  • Protection techniques: those that act on the consequences, minimizing or eliminating them.
